Bird Photography In the Field-A Beginner's Experience-September 27th
$49.00

Walk starts 8:30 AM (approximately 2 hours)

Curious about bird photography but not sure where to start? This two-hour field experience is designed for beginners who want to learn how to find, observe, and photograph birds in a real wildlife setting.

Rather than spending the morning in a classroom talking about camera settings, we'll learn by putting those concepts into practice. We'll explore a grassland habitat where a variety of birds and other wildlife can be active in the morning, while working on the skills that will help you become a more confident wildlife photographer.

We'll cover practical topics such as:

  • How to look for birds and recognize photographic opportunities

  • Choosing camera settings for moving wildlife

  • Autofocus and subject tracking basics

  • Working with available light and backgrounds

  • How to approach wildlife without disturbing it

  • Composition when your subject doesn't cooperate

  • Making the most of the lens and camera you already own

You don't need professional equipment or a super-telephoto lens to participate. Bring whatever camera and lens you currently use for wildlife photography. While a longer lens can certainly provide more reach, birds don't always cooperate by coming close—and learning how to recognize and work with the opportunities that are actually available is an important part of becoming a better wildlife photographer.

This is a relaxed, small-group experience with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn in the field. You don't need to be an experienced birder or photographer—just bring your camera, comfortable walking shoes, and a willingness to learn.

Minimum of three participants for session to run. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, those registered will be able to transfer to another walk, have option to choose private session at updated rate, or get full refund.
